Our Dayboats are available by the hour, half day or a full 8 hour day, are staff are on hand to offer handling skills and will be more than happy to recommend a route for you to have that perfect family day out.

The Month of May at Norfolk Broads Direct

As May comes to an end, it has been a month scattered with inclement weather, more bank holidays than you can shake a stick at and an encouraging increase in trade for the company.

Our fleet of day boats uncovered and ready for a busy Whitsun Weekend.

After a slow start to the season, with the coldest spring in decades affecting both day trade and weekly hire bookings, the weather gods finally decided to shine on Wroxham, with rising temperatures and sunshine married with the May Day Bank Holiday starting the month off on the right foot.

Self-drive day launches were flying off the quay heading like nobody’s business and passenger trip boats were leaving their stations full of happy customers, trying to make the most of the sunshine while it lasted.With the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month also being blessed with nice weather, the Friday and Saturday hire fleet turnaround days supplied us with 40 holidays for the half term week.

With Hire Fleet bookings on the up, aided by a successful ‘On the Water’ Open Weekend at the company at the back end of April, the projection for the rest of the summer is positive as we move into June.

Our happy group of boat builders are also being kept on their toes, with the arrival of two new mouldings to start work on a new 2-4 Berth cruiser called the Fair Executive and another Luxury Day Cruiser for day hire. Both of these projects will be documented on this blog in the coming weeks and months, so keep your eyes peeled for developments!

New Day Boat Staff

Here is the latest addition to our day boat staff, affectionately known as Wilson. Come rain or shine, he can always be found outside the day boat shed on the quay heading down by the bridge, and he is a constant reminder for people to enjoy boating safely. Apart from a slight mishap with a black Labrador a few weeks back, which took a particular liking to his big fluffy ears, Wilson seems to have gone down well with adults and children alike. If you have only got a day or even just a few hours to spend on the Broads, why not hire one of our day boats? Pack up a picnic and simply enjoy the sights and sounds of the Broads at your own pace. Whichever boat you choose, we know you will feel you have had a special day and will want to do it all over again … that’s the magic of the Broads.

We have 3 different styles of self-drive day boats to choose from;

Our Standard day boats seat up to eight people, are simple to operate and have a canvas cabriolet style cover to protect you from the elements. Available to hire by the hour, part or full day on a first come, first served basis from (09.00 -17.30).

Be the captain of your very own boat for an hour, half a day or a full 8 hour day.

Our Large electric boats are both quiet and Eco Friendly seating up to eleven people. For a full days hire only from (09.00 – 17.00) Pre-booking is essential for large electric boats during peak season.

Our Day cruisers seat up to eight people and are equipped with a two ring hob, grill, refrigerator, sink and WC. Split sliding canopy over the seating area allows alfresco dining on those sunny days. Available for full days hire only (10:00 – 17:00) Pre-booking is essential for large electric boats during peak season.

A New Experience

A new experience….

If you are considering your first Broads Boating Holiday please be assured that there is absolutely no need for previous experience in boat handling. Before you leave our boatyard a member of our friendly team will explain all the controls and the safety equipment on board your boat. He will then take you down the river to show you how to manoeuvre and to moor up.

Whilst on your holiday we are always at the end of the telephone if you need further advice. Often the phone call is all that it takes to reassure you, but we are always happy to arrange to meet you wherever you are on the Broads waterways at your convenience.

Throughout our brochure (you can request a brochure by clicking the following link) you will see that we have over 25 different styles of cruiser. These vary from boats all on one level, ideal for customers who are less mobile, to boats with the option of driving from both inside and out.

With you our customers in mind we have carefully fitted out and equipped our cruisers with all the comforts of home.  (Please see pages 10-11 within our holiday brochure for further details)

Enjoy a relaxing shore-based holiday in Wroxham

Situated in the village of Wroxham, and enjoying the ever-changing views a marina, the boatyard of Norfolk Broads Direct and the coming and going’s of Broads Tours passenger trip boats.
